"What Is Purity?"

As I'm starting out this blog I'd like to tackle a question I feel people may ask either to themselves or to others.
When I say "Purity" you're probably wondering what I mean by that.

First let me start with a few testimonies.
My family and I just got back from an AWESOME Street Preaching trip where we got to preach with some AMAZING street preachers on college campuses, at homo pride parades, homo festivals, and on the streets.

Wow. The Lord just BLESSED that time and I know that I have definitely come back with a stronger spark for the Lord, for witnessing, and for preaching for my Saviour!

One thing I noticed when I was on those college campuses really did strike home in my thoughts as of late.

On one particular day last week I had on my T- shirt "DADD- Dads Against Daughters Dating" (that shirt I- by the way- wanted to buy and I was NOT "forced" by my Dad to get. The funny thing was that the lady selling it tried to persuade me not to get it thinking I must have been going CrAZy in the head or something! lol). Well, it was REALLY a conversation starter because what girl "in her right mind" (actually you're in your WRONG MIND to be for dating) would be AGAINST dating (OF ALL THINGS!) unless she's determined to live the despondent life of a dreary spencer?!
"You're brain washed!" and "WHY IN THE WORLD ARE YOU WEARING THAT SHIRT!" were some of the things I heard after stepping on that campus. I replied with several of these answers:
"It's better than being BRAIN-DIRTY!" or "You're brainwashed by the world!" "I'm Bible washed and Blood washed you mean!" and than there was the kicker- "I'm AGAINST dating that's why!" ha ha You should've seen their faces!

One guy walked up to me (I was standing right next to a police officer).
"Can I take you out on a date?" He asked with a smirk of a smile.
"ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!!!!!"
"Why do you wear that shirt?"
"Because I'm against dating. I'm for Biblical courtship which is all about waiting for God to bring you the right one, total PURITY, and saving everything for marriage."
He looked a little taken aback but then a fresh amount of boldness hit him (I guess a devil inside helped him?). "So I can't take you out on a date?"
"NO!!!!!"
"Why not?"
And so I explained a little more about Biblical Courtship.
"And so you won't go out with me? Not even if I take you to a really fancy restaurant? I'll take you  anywhere you want!"
Finally, to my obvious delight and utter amazement, the police officer stepped in and said, "She told you why she won't go out with you now MOVE ALONG BUDDY!!!! There's a plenty more girls out there for you to chose from!"
"But I can't get a date!" He wailed and walked off. I looked at the police officer and said, "It's because of my shirt." He smiled and nodded his agreement. That police officer listened in to several of my conversations so I pray he gets saved.

Then a little later (after witnessing to several other people one 2 one because of my shirt opening up conversations! :) I was preaching at the fairly large crowd that the other preachers had gathered and preached to and then, of course, someone asked about my shirt (no way? someone asked about my shirt? seriously! lol). I went into a short description of Biblical Courtship, etc. and then no sooner did I get the word "PURITY" out of my mouth that the crowd erupted into laughter. I just couldn't believe how much this generation scoffs and scorns at purity (I rebuked them and told them to repent of that to their faces- Praise the Lord that they got the gospel though).
I also had another guy basically "propose" to me asking if the reason I ABSOLUTELY REFUSED his wicked nonsense (my interpretation of his sinful mock "proposal") was because he was ugly (he said that while taking off his sunglasses proving that he was not ugly and he knew it). I made it VERY CLEAR what kind of guy I am going to marry going through a long list of what I'm looking for in a guy (and believe me- my list is VERY LONG! I didn't go through the whole thing, but if I had, he would've REALLY looked like a wicked heathen! ha ha). After that he goes, "Well how do you know that I'm not a Christian?" I pointed out some obvious reasons why I knew he was not, and why I would NEVER in a MILLION years consider him as marriage material. And then what do you know? *sarcastic voice* "Mr. Christian" cussed right in my face! "Out of the abundance of your heart the mouth speaks!" I quickly rebuked. And he looked ashamed. All in all at least I did get to witness to him (I had to make it quick because we had to leave) and I gave him a copy of the "180 movie" to watch (www.180movie.com ).
WARNING: You do have to be EXTREMELY careful while witnessing at campuses and dealing with flirtatious carnal porn watching wicked heathen guys because they WILL try to flirt or hit on you. Have your guard up and STANDARD VERY VERY HIGH and DO NOT let it down at ANY time! Make sure you have a male protector you can run to in time of need as well (such as your Father or older Brother). They can rebuke them to their faces if so be it! I had my Dad and other godly Spirit filled men around so I knew I was protected.

Soooo (exhales deeply and cracks knuckles), I say all that to get to my point. In a generation that scorns and mocks PURITY we as CHRISTIANS should all the more stand up and support it!

"Purity" defined in the dictionary:

the condition or quality of being pure; freedom from anything that debases, contaminates, pollutes, etc.: the purity of drinking water.

freedom from guilt or evil; innocence.

physical chastity; virginity.

Here's a few "Purity" verses from the Bible:

Matthew 5:8

Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

 

God wants a people who are PURE in heart!

 

Philippians 4:8

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

If you want to be counted as a "Virtuous Women" and if you want to be "Praised" (if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise) THINK ON THOSE PURE thoughts!

1 Timothy 4:12

Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

 

Be an EXAMPLE of purity!

Paul told Timothy in 1 Timothy 5:2 to treat "The elder women as mothers; the younger as sisters, with all purity."

Guys, I know this is talking to the young men but we can treat our brothers in Christ with all purity as well.

Malachi 3:17

And they shall be mine, saith the Lord of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.

Being pure is being a JEWEL for the Lord. Something RARE, something valuable, something PRECIOUS. Soon I'm going to blog about "dying to self" and how precious that really is to the Lord.

Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.

 

FAR above rubies! Be that girls!

 

Here's a quote from Mabel Hale's book "Beautiful Girlhood":

"To look into the depths of a child's innocent eyes and see there but the innocence and guiltlessness of one who has never sinned will soften the hard heart. To look into the clear, fearless eye of a man or women whose heart is free from condemnation of sin, or to see the quietness and confidence of old age that has come to it's own with cleanness of hands and purity of heart, gives strength to those who falter. The look of innocent pleasure in the eyes of a modest maiden gladdens all who behold it. Everywhere purity and cleanness are admired and appreciated. Pure air, pure water, pure food, pure associations, pure ideals, pure aspirations- all are needed for perfect living. The purity that counts for the most in your life and mine is purity of heart. It is possible for us with the very seat of our affections cleansed from that which is sinful, and our hearts made pure. The heart can be made a fit temple into which to ask the Lord to come and be the inhabitant."

 

Purity is very precious. People may mock it but they know in their hard of hearts that they truly love purity.

There's something about the sparkling eyes of a Pure Princess that causes people to stop in their tracks and secretly admire her vibrant light and innocence (as long as they've not become to hardened to sin!).

It's so rare these days to find purity that people choose to just mock and scorn it instead of pursuing it with all their heart.

To know Jesus Christ and to have His Heart is to know true, spectacular PURITY. White, spotless, vibrant, amazing, PURITY. And you know what? He longs and desires for his Bride to reflect His lily whiteness and to live in sold out purity! A Bride without spot or wrinkle is the kind of Bride that He's coming back for. Are you that kind of bride?

 

What are some ways to exude purity into your daily life?

Here's just a few examples as I'm pressed for time and need to finish this post:

 

1) Become intimately acquainted with your Prince Jesus. Seek His heart, fall more in love with Him, talk to Him, get to know Him, read His beautiful love letter, LOVE Him with ALL your heart, and be His JEWEL.

 

2) Treat the opposite sex with all purity. DO NOT flirt, tease, seduce, show off, touch, or try to attract every guy who walks by. Save EVERYTHING for you future husband! How special do you think it will be when you can offer all your "firsts" to your future Prince? He will feel VERY,VERY special. He'll feel like you're a PRECIOUS jewel who saved your all just for him.
That first kiss, the first date ever, first time holding a guy's hand, your first and only boyfriend, your first time saying "I Love You" or "I Cherish You", the first time ever telling a guy all your dreams, ambitions, heart, etc. SAVE IT ALL for you future man! It WILL be worth it. I'm dead serious.
Something that's tainted isn't pure. If you are already tainted, God can forgive you and make you pure, but it's better to just NEVER get dirty in the first place.
Guard that heart and keep it with all the jealous diligence you can by God's Spirit. Hide that heart in the Lord's and in your Parent's careful hearts and God will honor that by bringing you a man worth waiting for.
And when a guy figures out that you're holding out for a Christ-like guy it may encourage him to start manning up and acting like one! You won't be seen as a lousy cheap whore, but as a precious virgin jewel worth winning and fighting for. Be worth a Godly Warrior-Poet Man!

3) Deny self and crucify your flesh so you can walk in purity on a daily basis. You can't witness to an impure world if you're just as impure as them!
We need to be spotless and blameless in this perverse generation.

So girls, BE PURE!!!! Live by God's Spirit! Crucify your flesh!
