Hello folks! How are you all doing? I'm doing better than I deserve. :)
Just got finished with a hard days work. :) We were working in the "Valley of death" (it was poison ivy central!) and I am allergic to it as well.
But hopefully we won't break out because a lot of my family and I got poison ivy pretty bad this past June but we did a lot of studying into it (including herbal ways to combat it) and now we are a little more prepared to scrub all that "poison" off of us so we won't break out. Plus we do come against it in the name of Jesus! Aren't we peculiar? ha ha
I'm super excited about our church coming here! But, I'm also sad that I won't really be able to enjoy them because I'm going to be so stressed out about singing for my brother's wedding. I really am grateful they chose my sisters and I to sing but, I am still pretty nervous. May God's strength and Holy Spirit help me.
So, today (or tonight) I would like to talk about The American Church Versus The Underground Church.
The western Church is dying. It's asleep. lukewarm. pitiful. lackadaisical. lazy. blind. undisciplined. willingly ignorant. in love with the world.
There's no passion, no discipline, no zeal, no hunger or thirsting for righteousness, no real prayer life, no willingness to suffer for The Lord, no compassion to reach out to lost souls, no desire to be set-apart and holy, no fear of God, and they are just going through the motions everyday like a blind and mindless Americanized "Christian".
THEY HAVE FORGOTTEN THEIR FIRST LOVE.
I've been reading in a book called, "Tortured For Christ" by, Richard Wurmbrand. Like I said in my "Praising God post" I've wept through that book. I recommend getting your hands on it and reading it.
I'm going to be quoting some things from that book that will really tie into what I'm trying to say out here.
Richard Wurmbrand said,
"I suffer in the west more than I did in Communist lands."
"Whoever has known the spiritual beauty of the underground Church cannot be satisfied anymore with the emptiness of some Western Churches. I suffer in the West more than I suffered in a Communist jail because now I see with my own eyes Western civilization dying. Much of the West sleeps."
Is that a sad statement or what? He suffers more over here than being in prison! If you've
read what he went through you'll marvel at that statement.
Oswald Spengler wrote in 1926 about the West,
"
You are dying. I see in you all the characteristics stigma of decay. I can prove that your great wealth and your great poverty, your great capitalism and your socialism, your wars and your revolutions, your atheism and your pessimism and your cynicism, and your immorality, your broken-down marriages, your birth-control, that is bleeding you from the bottom and killing you off the top in your brains-can prove to you that there are characteristics marks of the dying ages of ancient states-Alexandria and Greece and neurotic Rome."
Christians with no passion or zeal are like "part-time Christians". Don't expect to be a good soldier waging a good warfare when you're just "part-time".
Stop riding the fence. Either be in or out. Hot or cold. God HATES lukewarm (See Revelation chapter 3 for details).
HOW ZEALOUS FOR GOD ARE YOU?
Do you sing and praise God? Or do you just barely sing while you're mind is occupied with thoughts of vanity?
Do you shout "amen" or "Praise God" when the preaching's good? Or are you yawning, falling asleep, looking for distractions (I.e. that bratty baby screaming or person walking to the restroom), thinking about food, and half paying attention?
Do you look like a peculiar person? Or do you look just like the world?
Do you jump at chances to spread the gospel? Or are you ashamed of the gospel? (I'm pretty sure Romans 1:16 says "I am NOT ashamed".)
Do you enjoying praying fervently? Or are you just thinking/ watching others during prayer time?
Do you look for chances to be second and serve others? Or are you selfishly focused on your own needs and wants?
Are you
really in love with God? Or do the things (or people) of the world have a delicious hold on your heart and desires? When you lay your head on your pillow tonight what are you going to be thinking about? That's what has your heart.
Do you redeem the time by praying, reading your Bible, etc. Or do you find yourself "bored" most of the time? (I personally believe being "bored" is a sin. You can always be focusing on God when you have down time.)
Richard Wurmbrand said that the underground church has NO lukewarm members.
"The underground Church is a poor and suffering Church, but it has few lukewarm members. A religious service in the underground Church is like one 1900 years ago in the early Church. The preacher knows no elaborate theology."
They don't understand the American Church. They don't understand why you wouldn't want to give your all for The Lord. They cherish their Bibles, they really seek God, they are ALL "tuned in" and eagerly listening when they actually get to hear a sermon, and they LOVE witnessing to the lost.
What about you?
Richard Wurmbrand said,
"
How underground Christians rejoice on those rare occasions when they meet a serious Christian from the west!"
That's sad.
If you can fall asleep in a Fiery church service then you haven't learned what it means to be on fire for God. That's luke warm. The New Testament Church would've never even thought of falling asleep while an Apostle was preaching (only one- and I'm sure he never did it again!). Well, I thought we
are the New Testament Church? (Or you're
supposed to be- but most aren't these days.)
Can you see the disciples of Jesus acting bored when He was teaching them? I don't think so.
Well, aren't
you a disciple?
Guys, be more then a lukewarm Americanized Christian.
Be disciplined. Be zealous for truth. Fight the good fight of faith. Live holy. Live for Jesus.
Be a true New Testament church.
Sorry this is short but I'm kinda tired and ready for bed. :)
Have a great night and remember:
KEEP THYSELF PURE.
Taken by my Wellbeloved Bridegroom,
Hope Jerusalem<3
