Another Fallen Soldier? 

01/27 Daily Exhortation (Matt.6:11;Luke 11:3;Heb.3:13;10:25)

2 Samuel 1:27 (KJB) How are the mighty fallen, and the weapons of war perished!

This is Easily one of the saddest verses in the entire Bible! That King James phrase “How are the mighty fallen” is a VERY COMMON EXPRESSION TODAY.

We passed a personalized plate "SOLDIER" yesterday during Bible discussion yesterday and I said, "ANOTHER FALLEN SOLDIER." GOD KNEW next day this charge would be resurrected and not one iota changed from last year today! 

We’ve watched many a mighty man FALL. And we’ve watched many a “should be” mighty man FALL. Incredibly sad beyond words!!!! 

Backstory: David is LAMENTING/MOURNING over the death of Saul and Jonathan. 

There is a rich, vivid allegory when you study the House of David and the House of Saul. Long story short, the House of David typifies God’s remnant and in this dispensation, God’s church. The House of Saul represents that which begins well but lends itself to apostasy and a downward decline. The Jonathans have a split-loyalty on the matter. They are knit with David, but feel bound to Saul. They go down with Saul, as do all fence-riders and those in “neutral.” Neutrality is a MYTH by the way.

The House of David will always weep for their enemies. Saul loved David, but later pursued him and was demonically-driven to DESTROY David. This ongoing saga never stops. Folks will love you to death, until the Honeymoon (so to speak) is over, and then they want to javelin you to the wall when the “evil spirit from God” is upon them.  You mainly weep and lament and miss WHAT THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN. David is plum torn up emotionally FOR WHAT SAUL AND JONATHAN *should* have been. 

A parallel is: 2 Samuel 1:19 The beauty of Israel is slain upon thy high places: how are the mighty fallen!

The Numerics are obvious to the trained eye who has faith in God’s SOVEREIGNTY over every chapter, verse, punctuation, etc. You see, 127 points to Sara’s death age and as a type of Israel and by dual application, a type of the church. Moreover, you’ll find 127 connected with Esther (type of the End times Bride, etc.). 119 points to the longest chapter of the longest book PENNED BY DAVID HIMSELF. Thusly, it is the MOST WEIGHTIEST of the law (every single verse pointing to the WORD OF GOD). 

The biggest WEAPON OF WAR is the BIBLE ITSELF, the sword of the Spirit (Eph. 6; Heb.4:12; Jer.48:10, etc.). 

The Bible teaches in 2 Corinthians 11 that the WEAPONS OF OUR WARFARE are not carnal, BUT are *MIGHTY* through God to the pulling down of strongholds, etc. 

You will ALWAYS KNOW when a mighty man or MIGHTY MAN IN THE MAKING is fallen because their SWORD GETS RUSTY. Instead of growing stronger as the HOUSE OF DAVID (2 Sam. 3:1) they are as Saul, growing WEAKER AND WEAKER.

There are some “high places” you had better deal with sometime between NOW AND NOW. 

2 Samuel 1:25 How are the mighty fallen in the midst of the battle! O Jonathan, thou wast slain in thine high places.

As the Bride of Christ, another 1:27 is 1 Samuel 1:27 where Hannah (type of the Bride with a worthy portion) gets her prayers answered. BETTER PRAY for those enemies and fence-straddlers in the midst of battle!
