Let us GLEAN this 1/15 from this 1:15…

Song of Solomon 1:15 Behold, thou art fair, my love; behold, thou art fair; thou hast doves' eyes.

When God repeats something, pay CLOSE ATTENTION. Song of Solomon is symbolic of the Saviour and His Spouse. Christ and His church. 

Psalm 45:11 So shall the king greatly desire thy beauty: for he is thy Lord; and worship thou him.

How do we obey “worship thou Him?” If He greatly desires our beauty, then there is only ONE WAY: 

Psalm 96:9 O worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness: fear before him, all the earth.

Note the palindromic 969 in that passage. Methuselah means “When he dies, it shall be sent.” Methuselah dies in the exact year of when Noah was 600, which is the exact year that the flood was sent. 

1 Peter 3:20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.

Nobody lived as long as Methuselah. Why? This shows the great mercy and longsuffering of God to mankind. Thusly, a 969 verse construction on Psalms 96:9 which says to “fear before him, all the earth.” Hebrews 11:7 says that Noah moved with fear and prepared the ark. In Noah’s day, he and his family feared the Lord. Sad. 

Psalm 130:4 But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared.

Back to our focus passage. God wants to BEAUTIFY HIS BRIDE. She is “granted” fine linen white and clean which is the righteousness of the saints (Rev. 19:8,14). 

Song of Solomon 4:7 Thou art all fair, my love; there is no spot in thee.

Jesus is coming for a glorious church without spot, wrinkle, or any such thing (Ephesians 5)…

Beauty is SYMMETRY and BALANCE. Sound doctrine, soundness of mind and heart, sound speech, balanced with just weights on either side. God’s church, the Pillar and Ground of the truth, guided by the Spirit of truth, reflects the glory of the Sun (Son) like the Moon and having no glory of her own. 

Song of Solomon 6:10 Who is she that looketh forth as the morning, fair as the moon, clear as the sun, and terrible as an army with banners?

God’s church has “dove’s eyes.” The dove points to the Holy Ghost (Matt.3:16). While they are a “spectacle” to all (1 Cor. 4:9), they are peering through spiritual spectacles if you will. Our eyes have been ENLIGHTENED (1 Sam. 14:27, 29; Ps. 19:8; Eph. 1:18) which is beautiful TO THE LORD. Jesus is the APPLE OF OUR EYE, and we are to be the APPLE OF HIS EYE.
