“But that’s not WHY I do it!” 

12/30 Daily Exhortation (Matt.6:11;Luke 11:3;Heb.3:13;10:25)

This 12/30, because Jesus is WORTHY, we need to heed the following12:30…

Deuteronomy 12:30 (KJB)  Take heed to thyself that thou be not snared by following them, after that they be destroyed from before thee; and that thou inquire not after their gods, saying, How did these nations serve their gods? even so will I do likewise.

The very next verse says (Deut. 12:31), “Thou shalt not do so unto the LORD thy God…” 

God the Holy Ghost DOESN’T LOOK AROUND at the world, the flesh, and the Devil and try and get ideas to imitate. We should not look around at how the heathen do things and think God will accept this sacrifice. Remember how that Cain offered the fruit of the ground (offering what HE THOUGHT was right) and God did NOT answer by fire as He did Abel’s offering. 

God tells us how to serve Him in the Holy Bible. For example, in worship, this is how we worship: 

John 4:23-24 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

Note is does not say to worship God in the flesh and well-meaning sincerity. 

Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

What is the world doing? What are people IN THE WORD doing? Decide. 

 

An excellent definition of separation is right here: 

Genesis 13:9 Is not the whole land before thee? separate thyself, I pray thee, from me: if thou wilt take the left hand, then I will go to the right; or if thou depart to the right hand, then I will go to the left.

Let’s apply this to the world, the flesh, and the Devil. If they go right, you go left. If they go left, you go right. 

2 Cor. 6:17-18 17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you. 18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

Remember that God commanded (Jer.10:1, etc.)  to “Learn not the WAY of the heathen” and He never said to “Learn not the WHY of the heathen.” In short, God doesn’t care WHY you do exactly what the world is doing. "Yeah, but..." That's self-justification. Watch...

Jesus said in Luke 16:15, “…Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.” Dinah looked around in Genesis 34, and it became quite the snare. 

Everything you do, do to God’s glory, and be a peculiar people, pilgrims, and strangers, and stop saying, “But that’s not WHY I do it!” if you are only imitating the world, flesh, and Devil. The Lord knows better and a discerning saint knows better. And YOU know better in your heart of hearts this day, -r <3
