The Grass Was Dead on the Other Side
WARNING: Do NOT read this post if you plan on being proud and rejecting what you read! Hell will be hotter for you. DO CONTINUE to read if you have a soft and humble heart. This post contains a VERY IMPORTANT MESSAGE.
Amen.

Isaiah 40:6-8, "The voice said, Cry. And he said, What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the goodliness thereof is as the flower of the field: The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: because the spirit of the Lord bloweth upon it: surely the people is grass. The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever."

All

of my young girl dreams were filled with royal princes, fighting knights, dancing ballerinas, handsome kings, and beautiful queens. A dreamer by nature, with a wild imagination (runs in the family), I spent my youth dressing up, dancing, and playing “princess” games with my sisters. Castles were incredible to me (and still are) and I used to dream of exploring them or even living in one (ha ha).
Of course, in my mind’s eye, my Dad was “my King” (handsome, smart, and always saved the day) and my Mom was “my queen” (beautiful, royal, and regal). My sisters and I were the princesses. *smile*
I remember one day, when I was about 7 or 8, being devastated (yes-totally crushed) when I saw a video of the Queen of England wearing a pant suit! Nooo! Queens are suppose to be dressed in beautiful long gowns with sparkly gold crowns and walking like a queen!
So yeah, I was pretty upset. I eventually got over it- but I think that most people know that queens should be dressed in a beautiful dress. ;)
As I got older (and wiser) I started to realize how nasty this world really was and the “royalty” not really there.
Gone were the fighting knights standing valiantly.
Gone were the handsome princes with pure hearts and lion-like courage.
Gone were the faithful leading kings.
Gone were the pure, meek, and modest princesses.
Gone were the beautiful and sweet queens.
                          GONE.
They are nowhere to be found. Talk about being crushed! I was devastated.

And then…

I fell in love with a King.

A real Royal, Faithful, strong, amazing King.

King Jesus!

I found love. I found royalty. I became HIS princess-His Bride. And oh Yes, I really am a princess, my Father is the King of kings!

Psalm 45: 13-15, "The king's daughter is all glorious within: her clothing is of wrought gold. She shall be brought unto the king in raiment of needlework: the virgins her companions that follow her shall be brought unto thee. With gladness and rejoicing shall they be brought: they shall enter into the king's palace."

And you know, there really are strong kings, beautiful queens, valiant knights, and pure princesses, but only in God’s Kingdom.

1 Peter 2:9, "But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;"
I’m not the only girl with “princess dreams”. I think everyone (boy and girl) have it in them to be royalty (princess or knight or whatever). Inside, girls want to be loved, to be found beautiful, to live in a castle far, far away. Boys want to be respected, to rule, and to fight the fire breathing dragons. Of course today’s brainwashing has all but destroyed what used to be. No more pure princesses guarding their priceless pearl of purity; saving it for the strongest Knight. No more strong knights winning the princesses’ heart with his manliness, purity, courage, and fight.

Now the men lay down the sword and kingly authority and sleep, while the women try to rise up and do their job.
Not a good outcome.
The girls throw their hearts at the boys, while the boys carelessly break their precious hearts (and vice-versa). Purity is mocked and considered outdated and since the dreams are gone, this world and Satan had to come up with their own.
I call them “grass dreams”.
Ever heard of the phrase “The grass is greener on the other side?”

I’ve personally seen this phrase in action.

One of my own chickens “Aloe” (a seriously cute baby faced buff orpington ) constantly sticks her fluffy neck through their fenced run, trying to reach the “greener “weeds over there. It’s actually dangerous for her because it could result in her baby head being bit off by our dog! We have yet to add more chicken wire….Poor Aloe! Her greener side will be fenced off here soon.
I’ve watched many horses and cows stretch and stretch their poor necks through a fence to try and reach the “greener” grass on the other side.

So yeah, that’s what this world and Satan's kingdom is pushing and everyone is falling for it.  Grass dreams.

1 Peter 1:23-25, "Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:
But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you."

What is this “grass dream”? From a female’s perspective, this is how it usually is:

You grow up being shoved down your throat that “you’re beautiful”, “you’re strong”, and “you can do this.” You know, prove to the men that you don’t need them, and you can outdo them in this world.

Guard your precious heart? No! That wouldn’t be any fun. All through school you endure countless heart breaks, false love, and hopelessness. Dress and act like a princess? No. Then you wouldn’t get any guy attention!  Do you feel loved? No. The guys just want you for their selfish lusts.

I mean, the reason you’re in school is so you can get educated to gain that “dream.” So that’s why you head to college next.

You make it through school, barely, and try to make it in the work force. If you could just get a handsome and rich guy (who at least acts like he loves you) and get married then you’d attain that “dream.”
Happy yet? Nope.
You want a baby or two. Maybe you’ll be fulfilled now. Bigger house, nicer car, more money. Happy yet? Still a negative.
Get the kids off to college. Try to make more money. Finally- retirement! Grandkids. Life’s almost gone.
Still not happy.
You’re still not rich enough. Still not pretty enough. Still not at the top of this “dream”.  Your eyes are never satisfied with seeing. (Lust is NEVER satisfied- by the way.)
What are you left with? Depression. A wasted life. Nothing. Death. Eternity in hell.
That’s the end of this grass dream.

The grass was really dead on the other side!
So what are YOU aiming for? What’s your life dream?

Do you want the green grass? It’s ONLY, and I do mean ONLY, found in eternity with Jesus.
Psalm 23:2, "He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters."
EVERYTHING you are aiming for in this temporal life you WILL get- just on the other side (the real other side).

Mansions (and castles like Ivory palaces!); riches; eternal life and a “fountain of youth”; marriage (to Jesus); adventure; respect; authority; crowns; royalty; to be loved; friends (REAL friends); hope, peace, joy, and real pleasure; amazing food; gold and silver and jewels; the praise of God (not man); the super natural; etc. etc. etc.

John 14:1-3, "Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also."

In this world you will NEVER achieve that grass dream.

Psalm 92:7, "When the wicked spring as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity do flourish; it is that they shall be destroyed for ever:"

I know that you want to be famous, to be the richest (or the most powerful), to make an impact on the world, to show up in the history books. You live, work, and die towards that goal.

Sorry. I hate to bust the happy bubble (grass dream) but there’s always someone prettier (or more handsome), someone more famous, someone richer, someone more talented, someone smarter, someone more physically fit.
It just gets harder and harder as the standard gets crazier and crazier.
I’m a ballet dancer (a Christian ballet dancer) and I know firsthand how even the standard of dancing and what actually “entertains” people is out of hand now. If you aren’t about killing yourself while “dancing” then people just don’t care. (FYI- I don’t dance for man –only God- so I don’t care . But other dancers out there are about killing themselves in their effort to try and impress and please man. So sad….)
The standard for “beauty” is outrageous now (“fake” is considered beautiful).
Same with riches, talents, fitness, etc.
Unattainable.
And yet, people everywhere are still trying in vain to reach it. For what? Perishing riches, fading beauty, weakening strength, and aging minds? For what? To be forgotten into this vapor of life?
James 4:14,
"Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away."

Was it worth it? Really?!

The grass IS dead!

You’re chained into addictions; you drink and drink and yet you’re not satisfied with the beer and alcohol; your heart is broken and hopeless; your body is used and wounded; cares and fears run you; the riches are fading or stolen; the laughter is dying down; the “hangover” is real; you’re filled with sorrow and despair; and you have CERTAIN DEATH ahead of you! This isn’t just a “mid-life crisis” people! You really have wasted your life!

It’s not green at all.

You’re just standing there in a pile of ashes. A handful of dung. Desperately grasping some air. Eating some pig’s slop!

Nothing. Vanity.

And then nothing for ETERNITY. FOREVER.

No princess dreams. No dreams at all!

You’re gone and forgotten by tomorrow! Nobody really cares!

Psalm 37:1-3, "Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.
For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.
Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed."

Psalm 102:11, "My days are like a shadow that declineth; and I am withered like grass."

Hey, instead of dead grass wouldn’t you rather have gold? You’ll be walking on an actual STREET OF GOLD in heaven! No dead grass. A street so pure the gold’s like glass (Revelation 21:21).

You can actually have eternal and worthwhile versus temporal and vanity!

Matthew 6:19-21, "Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:  For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also."

“Heaven is not here, it’s there. If we were given all we wanted here, our hearts would settle for this world rather than the next. God is forever luring us up and away from this one, wooing us to Himself and His still invisible Kingdom, where we will certainly find what we so keenly long for.” –Elisabeth Elliot

Maybe you’ll finally see it. Maybe you will admit that the grass wasn’t as green as you had dreamt. Maybe you’ll see the dead grass all around you.

Or maybe not. You might be too blind.

It is your choice though; I only beg you to choose wisely.

And you know, I still want to be a princess (and I really am).
I still want to live in a castle in a land far, far away.
I still dream and my head is DEFINITELY still in the clouds.
Soon, my Prince is really coming. Jesus is my life and my everything.
I’m so excited because I’m going home! Heaven is calling and I MUST go!

Isaiah 64:4,

"For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him."

I know that I will get my crown to rule and reign with Jesus. I can dream about my castle mansion (with that gold coated log cabin look and that jeweled barn attached -filled with white Arabian horses and chickens! Ha ha). I’ll get eternal rewards and riches. I’ll be able to dance for my Saviour with all of my might.
My dreams will come true and the best is yet to come…

What about you? Grass dreams? Dead grass?
Matthew 16:26, “For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?"

I LOVE being poor (only by America’s standard- not by the rest of the world’s). I love being hated, despised, a nobody.

I take up that cross willingly. Actually, I embrace it whole heartedly in full surrender and love.

Because I know the secret of this world and I know their end.
Listen ya’ll, I would rather have Jesus for eternity then this sin sick world any day!
God's eternal kingdom is going to reign forever. Satan's kingdom and his grass dreams will burn for eternity.
Which side do you want to be on in eternity?

And Shhhh… Let me tell you that little secret:
“The grass IS dead on the other side.”
DO NOT FORGET.

PLEASE READ AND LISTEN CAREFULLY….

You’re standing at the cross roads, a start or head to two paths. Time is running out and you have an important choice to make. You look to the left and see a lush green, soft, broad path. The sun’s shining. The grass is sparkling with dew. The dream seems so alive. Many, many people are walking on it- beckoning you to join them, inviting you to the party, the fun, the laughter. You have opportunities! You can get rich or famous! You can have fun, relax, and be entertained. There’s pleasures galore and endless delights! You can almost taste the delicious food and wine. You can almost feel the sweet pleasurable kisses and embraces from the opposite sex. Sleep is gently tugging down on your eyelids as you watch. Sigh.

The pull is so irresistible- it’s like a magnet.

Then, reluctantly, you remember the path to the right.
So you look over and see a dusty road, stained with blood, tears, and sweat. You notice a few lone pilgrims dragging a cross; fighting off enemies; enduring the mocks and scorns of those on the easy path. You notice that they’re poor, despised, hated, and alone. The path is so narrow it makes you cringe as you watch it wind up this steep mountain. You spy their scarred and battle worn faces, the betrayed hearts, the bitterness of drinking the cup of suffering. And they have a long journey ahead of them still.

You definitely don’t want to go down that path!
As you almost start walking towards that happy-go-lucky broad path, you stop short as your mind is filled with a revelation…
           Their end.

Psalm 73;17-19, "Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then understood I their end. Surely thou didst set them in slippery places: thou castedst them down into destruction.  How are they brought into desolation, as in a moment! they are utterly consumed with terrors."

The end of that “easy” path is not so happy. You see the broken hearts, hard hearts, stony hearts, and cruel hearts. You see the sin, wickedness, tormenting devils, and the fake hypocritical people. The riches are fading, stolen, and rusting. All of their “beauty” and cleanliness just nice on the outside, inwardly they look like dung, pig’s slop, and creepy dark and devilish souls. The darkness is smothering everything in it’s path. All of their joy, gone. The peace, gone. The unfulfilled hope.
Dead grass.
Ashes. Hell for eternity. Such horror filled screams, pain, torments, flames, they’re utterly alone!
Their names forgotten and gone. Forever.
Your heart drops into deep depression and hopelessness. What a horrible ending!
Desperately, almost falling down in your effort to reach the other path, you head to the right.
You suddenly observe the absurdly smiling and peaceful faces amidst the pain and suffering. You see angels protecting them, God blessing them, and Jesus bearing the burden and cares with them. You notice the strength in the midst of weakness. You spy a glitter of hope in their eye and a distant country in their vision. This world isn’t even worthy to house these royal pilgrims; they MUST go home.

They’re getting near the top! Their running full speed, with arms raised, their smiles broadening, and shouts of victory echoing everywhere. Your heart leaps as you watch them-they made it! Such rejoicing in heaven! They’re crowned, given authority and royalty, served by Jesus Himself, all their tears wiped away, granted an eternal body, given everything they could ever desire plus more. Immense joy, real pleasure, true love.
REAL dreams do come true. God’s dreams.
Psalm 37:37, "Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace."
You suddenly feel a little spark of hope. Could you really enter this path? Are you worthy?

And then…
you see Jesus. The KING of kings.
You fall to your knees. (That’s all you can do in the presence of such a King.)

He’s walking that same dusty, bloody, narrow path. He’s dragging that old rugged cross.
He allowed His own creation to mock His royalty.
You watch, horrified, as they jam a crown of thorns on his royal head, enrobe Him with a kingly robe –staining it with His own beaten and bloody pulp of a body. He’s beaten and forced to drag that heavy, splintering, cruel cross.
And then you realize that YOU are the one mocking His royalty. YOU are the one beating his Kingly body. YOU are the one crying, “Crucify Him! Crucify Him! He’s not our King!” It’s YOUR sin putting him on that cross. YOUR nasty, disgusting, filthy, selfish, and vile sin. You’ve broken His perfect law (the Ten Commandments) by lying, and committing adultery in your heart (lust), and stealing, and taking His precious name in vain. You have sin and you need a payment for it. Except you’re not good enough, and you’ll never be.
Ashamed you lift your head and encounter the eyes of The King of Love. This great King, this royal Prince of Peace, this Christ. YOUR GOD.
He shed his perfect, sinless blood FOR YOU. Yes, for you!
Three days later he rises up defeating that death! No more dead grass everyone! VICTORY!
Now, YOU.

What are you going to do? You’ve seen each path. You’ve seen each end.
This life is your big test? Will you fail it?
Are you going to go back and join that broad path? Spit on your King of love? Eat your dead grass, dung, ashes, and pig’s slop? Eternity in hell?
After all you’ve seen and heard?!
Really?!
You don’t have to, you know.
You can repent of your sins, believe on The Lord Jesus Chirst and be saved. You could put your trust in Him. You could gain eternity with Jesus, living the greatest adventure that Hollywood couldn’t touch with one piece of their dung covered dead grass!
Sure, there’s a price to pay (both ways, really). Your soul.
Sure, as a Christian you will endure suffering, horrible betrayal (by those you love the most), hatred (even by “Christians”), and the mocks of MANY who despise that narrow path. I’ve watched as many fall off of that narrow and steep mountain path. All because they held on to a lust from the broad path and refused to let it go. They turned back to Egypt and the world. It’s horrible.
Sure, you may feel alone.
But you’re not. Many have gone before you- learning to actually embrace that cross because there are heavenly rewards involved!
Jesus has done it, many Christians/pilgrims have done it, I’m doing it.
The Bible says in Romans 8:18, “ For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us."
REMEMBER the gains! REMEMBER eternity! REMEMBER Jesus and His love! And REMEMBER that your time is RUNNING OUT!!! REMEMBER that Jesus is coming back REALLY SOON!
What do you really want? Dead grass?
Don’t forget that secret, ya’ll. Remember the end of that broad path.
“THE GRASS IS DEAD ON THE OTHER SIDE!!!!”
Many prayers for you all, Hope Jerusalem
