Believing IN or ON Jesus today? 

08/30 Daily Exhortation (Heb.3:13; 10:25; Matt.6:11; Luke 11:3)

John 8:30 (KJB)  As he spake these words, many believed on him.

The words of Christ PRODUCE FAITH. Faith is simply BELIEVING WHAT GOD SAID. Satan will attack faith by attacking the word of God. He used a POSITIVE APPROACH to cause doubt of God’s word in Genesis 3. “Yea, hath God said…?” Romans so aptly puts it: “FAITH COMETH BY HEARING, AND HEARING BY THE WORD OF GOD.” 

God is to be the object of our faith. Note in our focus passage, they didn’t just believe IN HIM, but ON HIM. 

There is a fundamental difference. Satan believes in Jesus. But he doesn’t believe ON JESUS. Some say to just invite Christ into your heart. Well, before being born again, our heart is desperately wicked per Jeremiah 17. God wants to give us a new heart (being born again) and then indwells the temple of the Holy Ghost (dwells in our NEW heart). Some say to just invite Jesus into your life. Well, Jesus is IN SATAN’S LIFE! 

James 2:19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

The devils (fallen angels) believe in God, but they don’t believe ON GOD (on Jesus). They do not repent (change mind and direction) and of course, as reprobates, they simply CANNOT (different teaching). Some today don’t even have a DEVIL’S FAITH. Why? Some believe, but don’t tremble. Devils believe AND TREMBLE. And yet, they don’t believe ON GOD. 

When you believe ON JESUS, that belief continues ON. So, let’s continue on after John 8:30…

John 8:31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

It’s not enough to believe IN JESUS, we must believe ON JESUS. It’s not enough to be a disciple, we must be DISCIPLES INDEED. The truth will not just “set you free” (like the corrupt Amplified, ESV, HCSB, NIV, NLT, etc. say). If you are “set free” you can be recaptured and enslaved. The truth will MAKE YOU FREE. Illustration: if a slave is set free, that can be temporary. If he is legally MADE FREE, this is his status. 

Believing ON JESUS, and continuing that faith continuing in His word, will make you a DISCIPLE INDEED WHO IS MADE FREE. This reminds me of how Isaiah 10:27 says “…the yoke shall be DESTROYED because of the anointing.” The corrupt new versions (NIV, etc.) say the yoke is BROKEN. Well, if it merely broken, it can be mended again. No, the anointing DESTROYS the yoke. Well, PRAISE THE LORD!!!!!

Acts 16:31  Believe ON the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

Want your ENTIRE HOUSE to taste of this salvation? BELIEVE *ON* THE LORD JESUS CHRIST. And be careful who you trust in your life that will violate that Proverbs 22:6 covenant for any of your children (Fathers, take heed and take the blame!!! A different teaching altogether). 

Rest your entire faith, your entire life, your salvation, your hope, your EVERYTHING *ON* CHRIST JESUS. Believe ON HIM. Most, I dare say, only believe IN JESUS. Few believe ON HIM. In similar fashion, many know about Jesus, but don’t KNOW HIM. 

1 John 2:4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

You say you believe in the chair. You believe it will hold you up. PROVE IT. Sit ON the chair. Trust that it will support you. Just an analogy, but we must believe ON JESUS. Moreover… 

Romans 13:14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

Believe ON THE LORD JESUS CHRIST, AND PUT ON THE LORD JESUS CHRIST. 

You are in a plane with the engines out. You have a parachute. You believe in parachutes after all. You must PUT ON THAT PARACHUTE and then PUT THE PARACHUTE INTO PRACTICE or your PERISH. 

Galatians 3:27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

Receiving the spiritual baptism into Christ’s body/church, is to PUT ON CHRIST. 

Give Jesus YOUR EVERYTHING: Your mind, logic, spirit, heart, conscience, body, devotion, love, spouse, family, BELIEVING *ON* HIM.  

Colossians 3:16 says to Let the words of Christ dwell in your richly. Start there. Grab a King James Bible between now and now, and start reading. Let His word dwell in you as in abiding in you (John 15:7). BELIEVE ON THE LORD JESUS CHRIST TODAY. Will you?
