2 Timothy 2:17 (KJB)  And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus…

I LOVE, LOVE, *LOVE* THIS JESUS WALK. When writing this, I had prayed the previous day aloud while leading family about this VERY verse and that God’s people in the earth be protected from the canker words of defectors, reprobates, those on the road to reprobation, church-disciplined, and the Laodicean church age in general. LITTLE DID I KNOW that the address of the verse would correspond WITH THE NEXT DAY. But GOD DID…

Then, yesterday I posted what few realize about persecution and it is in this resurrected charge from yesteryear. DAILY! 

Friends, words can eat away. “Canker” is akin to CANCER and it means to eat away. 

James 5:3 Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days.

1 Timothy 1:20 Of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander; whom I have delivered unto Satan, that they may learn not to blaspheme.

In short, Hymenaeus and Alexander were church-disciplined from a local church. They rejected God’s New Testament church model, and were teaching things they ought not. Paul church-disciplined them and they were put out. 

But the words of a railing, slanderous, discontented, lying defector WILL ALWAYS EAT AWAY. Why? There is a spirit behind it. Satan is called “the spirit which now worketh IN THE CHILDREN OF DISOBEDIENCE” (Eph. 2). 

FEW REALIZE THE PURPOSE OF ALL PERSECUTION. Persecution is a PURSUING but not just a pursuing to ultimately kill (at least hatred in the heart), but there is something else. A persecutor WANTS YOU TO CONVERT TO THEIR WAY OF THINKING to stop the persecution. If you do not convert, then they want you dead (influence cut off). 

When folks leave the faith, they are driven to get others to leave the faith. When folks fall into various sins, they want EVERYBODY to do the same to ease their conscience. When folks turn against a bona fide Bride local church, they will never rest content unless they can turn others against that church. When a rebel rebels against authority (parental, government, boss, you name it), THEY NEED MORE TO DO THE SAME. They literally are caught up in that “bad grid” network of Ephesians 6:12 and MUST INFLUENCE ALL TO THEIR SIDE. *THEY MUST.* 

The same cunning spirit(s) that talked them into leaving the right ways of the Lord is the same spirit behind the words that “will eat as doth a canker.” 

Don’t give place to their words. Know the FACTS. Stick with the BOOK. Stay with the WITNESSES. Who has the DOCUMENTATION? Defectors NEVER, NEVER, NEVER face their church, but flee. Sinners NEVER come to the light to be exposed. They hide. Rebels circumnavigate authority. 

EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. PERIOD. 

And in every single time period. 

Psalms 101:2-4  I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way. O when wilt thou come unto me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart.

 I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me.

A froward heart shall depart from me: I will not know a wicked person.
