THE DEVICES OF THE DEVIL as outlined by NEHEMIAH...

02/19 Daily Exhortation (Heb. 3:13; 10:25; Matt. 6:11;Luke 11:3)

This 2/19, let’s glean from this 2:19…

Nehemiah 2:19 (KJB) But when Sanballat the Horonite, and Tobiah the servant, the Ammonite, and Geshem the Arabian, heard it, they laughed us to scorn, and despised us, and said, What is this thing that ye do? 

Back about a quarter century ago, I drew up the picture (mind map) you see here. After 25 years, these TIMELESS TRUTHS have proven DEAD ON THE MONEY ABSOLUTE OVER AND OVER AND OVER. 

The Title is “THE DEVICES OF THE DEVIL AS REVEALED BY NEHEMIAH.” If ever there was a SPIRITUAL WARFARE blueprint of Satan’s devices, it is found in Nehemiah. 

The typology is pretty straightforward. Sanballat symbolizes SATAN. Tobiah typifies THE FLESH. Geshem is an allegory of THE WORLD. 

All three are ENEMIES of the Christian. All three FIGHT FAITH with the doubt-provoking mockery, scorning, and hatred, and the questioning of “What is this thing that ye do?” 

Nehemiah means “Comfort of the Lord.” The Holy Ghost is the COMFORTER. Only via the COMFORT OF THE HOLY GHOST can you conquer these SCHEMES OF SATAN. 

Sanballat means “the enemy is secret.” Satan will lurk in your midst, trying to destroy the work of God, and especially through secret sins and hiding liars/liers (ambushers). Satan uses a SECRET ATTACK FROM WITHIN (Neh. 4:11, etc.). 

We are all called to BUILD the Kingdom of God and to not forsake the calling specified by God. The work of God GRIEVES Sanballat and Tobiah exceedingly (Neh. 2:10). Satan must hinder the work (Neh. 4:7,8). 

Satan employs RIDICULE (Neh. 4:1), DISCOURAGEMENT (Neh. 4:12), and especially is after COMPROMISE (Neh. 6:1-4). Satan uses FEAR tactics as well (Neh. 6:9). He will use FALSE PROPHETS (Neh. 6:12).

We can OVERCOME by HAVING A MIND TO WORK (Neh. 4:6), PRAYER (Neh. 4:9), utterly forsaking Satan (Neh. 13:28), being unified as one man in the local church around THE BOOK (Neh. 8:1), via warfare with our spiritual weaponry (Neh.4:13-17), and trusting God to BRING THEIR COUNSEL TO NOUGHT (Neh. 4:5). 

Friends, Brethren, WHAT ABOUT THE WORK OF THE LORD? Will that “old serpent” (Rev. 12) who has millennia of practice – will he HINDER the work to which God has called you? 

I exhort you, no matter how hard the enemy rages against you, STICK WITH THE CALL, STAY LOYAL TO THE LORD’S PRIMARY WILL, stick close in fervent charity to your local church into which you are baptized, abide by the Principles of Honour, and THE LOT/REWARD WILL BE *GREAT* ON THE OTHER SIDE, -r <3
