05/01 Daily Exhortation (Heb. 3:13; 10:25; Matt. 6:11; Luke 11:3). 

A date-tethered, day-docked, calendar-coupled 5:1 to meditate, mull, and muse on this 5/1. 

Ecclesiastes 5:1 Keep thy foot when thou goest to the house of God, and be more ready to hear, than to give the sacrifice of fools: for they consider not that they do evil.

Next verse. 

Ecclesiastes 5:2 Be not rash with thy mouth, and let not thine heart be hasty to utter any thing before God: for God is in heaven, and thou upon earth: therefore let thy words be few.

Very densely packed. Very loaded. Slightly, let’s unbox, disentangle, and do the Unload Decode.

Ever heard of the verbal venom lip litter called "talking trash?" MeFellowWordsmiths, ponder yonder phrase:

"Be NoT RASH with thy mouth."

This is inspired poetic literature & scripture, and the Infinite Mind of God. From a HOLISTIC All-Bible-books-eye-view, yea, canon-wide KJB, we know that “the house of God” is an allegory for The CHURCH, The ASSEMBLY, and thusly we can nicely LATCH ON, link up, & lock in: 

1 Timothy 3:15 But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.

Many feign “reverence” for the Head, and have Zero, yea, Zilch 🚫 Reverence for Christ’s body which is His CHURCH. How does this compute? You only like Jesus' Head and not His Body⁉️ A Foe hath Forged this Fracture. An enemy hath done this, while men slept. 

We are implored in Ecclesiastes 5:1 to be “ready to hear” or as James 1:19 so aptly put it: “Be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath…”

Thusly, by syllogism, “the sacrifice of fools” is being slow to hear and swift to wrath, yea, shooting off at the lips without hearing. Hebrews enjoins us to allow Christ to give us the sacrifice of praise to Him, even the fruit of our lips giving thanks to His Name. That would be the Sacrifice of Praise of the Wise rather than the Sacrifice of Fools!

Those that are hasty in spirit are rash with rationale, quick in quarrel, & have an untamed tongue and temper:

Proverbs 14:29 He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.

Ecclesiastes 7:9 Be not hasty in thy spirit to be angry: for anger resteth in the bosom of fools.

Let us offer a BLESSED SACRIFICE and not a Lacklustre, Lame SACRIFICE: 

Malachi 1:7-8  Ye offer polluted bread upon mine altar; and ye say, Wherein have we polluted thee? In that ye say, The table of the LORD is contemptible. And if ye offer the blind for sacrifice, is it not evil? and if ye offer the lame and sick, is it not evil? offer it now unto thy governor; will he be pleased with thee, or accept thy person? saith the LORD of hosts.

God is saying to respecter of persons: You 🫵 would Not 🚫 give a lame sacrifice to a person of import / authority. And Jesus is our WORTHY KING. Thusly, He deserves the ONE HUNDREDFOLD RETURN. 

Obviously, in the New Testament, we don’t sacrifice animals as in the Old Testament temple. We offer “spiritual sacrifices” per: 

1 Peter 2:5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

There should be a reverence for God’s house / church / assembly. 

Genesis 28:16  And Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and he said, Surely the LORD is in this place; and I knew it not.

Gen. 28:17 And he was afraid, and said, How dreadful is this place! this is none other but the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.

There should be a READINESS To HEAR hungrily, yea, appetite of attentiveness, to what the Spirit saith unto the churches. Why assemble with the church? 

Acts 10:33 Immediately therefore I sent to thee; and thou hast well done that thou art come. Now therefore are we all here present before God, to hear all things that are commanded thee of God.

Acts 17:11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

Luke 24:25 Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken…

In our Focus Passage, it says, “…for they consider not that they do evil.” To “Consider not” means to be INCONSIDERATE. The fear of God is at an ALL-TIME Record Low and folks are adding sin to sin & especially, how they treat the local church, where even 2 or 3 are gathered in His Name. Let us be the exception to this generation, and GO And DO THOU 🫵 CONTRARIWISE TODAY.
