Dear Dad’s (Randall Hartinger) Teaching Today. Very Vital. Get a BLESSING.

THOU SHALT NOT COVET…
05/03 Daily Exhortation (Heb.3:13; 10:25; Matt.6:11; Luke 11:3)
Ephesians 5:3 (KJB) But fornication, and all uncleanness, or COVETOUSNESS, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints…
1st Corinthians 5 says if one is called a Brother and is fornicating (sex outside of biblical marriage), or if one is COVETOUS, have NO FELLOWSHIP with them and do not so much as EAT WITH THEM.
Let us focus primarily on that word “COVETOUSNESS” today.
Ephesians goes on to say: Eph. 5:5 For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.
Eph. 5:6 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
Eph. 5:7 Be not ye therefore partakers with them.
Note that a COVETOUS MAN is an IDOLATER. Why? Idolatry is putting ANYTHING AHEAD OF CHRIST.
We are commanded to COVET the best gifts of the Holy Ghost (1 Cor. 12-14). This is a lawful coveting because in doing so, we are coveting the GIFT-GIVER. But coveting ANYTHING AHEAD OF CHRIST would be making something/someone an IDOL. This provokes God to RIGHTEOUS JEALOUSY.
Colossians 3:5 Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry…
Watch the flow here:
Hebrews 13:5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
Did you CATCH THAT? God is saying to let our conversation (earlier modern English for both talk and walk and manner of life) to be without COVETOUSNESS, because WE HAVE GOD ALMIGHTY PRESENT WITH US AND HE IS OUR *EVERYTHING.*
I have watched covetousness take many a man/woman down in this prophesied “falling away.” Coveting somebody else’s wife/husband/children/calling etc. and so on is DESTRUCTIVE.
A qualification of a “ruler” in the Bible is to HATE COVETOUSNESS:
Exodus 18:21 Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands, and rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens…
No time here, but contrast Malachi 4 with John the Baptist’s sayings, and get a thorough breakdown of the BREAKDOWN of Biblical, balanced patriarchy in the Bible. One such saying is “Be content with your wages.” Selah.
This is why the qualifications of a bishop/elder/pastor includes “not covetous” in 1 Tim. 3:3. Every Christian should aspire to meet these qualifications and other offices in the church as well (teachers, etc.).
It was prophesied that fallen false prophets would bring in the last days a strong push of covetousness to attack the saints:
2 Peter 2:3 And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.
Professional, Organized Religion is laden with covetousness:
Luke 16:14 And the Pharisees also, who were covetous, heard all these things: and they derided him.
Exodus 20 in the BIG TEN says, “Thou shalt not COVET anything…” Look straight to God this day and be content you HAVE HIM. Everything above hell is grace.
Receive the wholesome words of our Lord richly:
Luke 12:15 And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.
