SUBTLE IDOL?

08/27 Daily (Heb.3:13;10:25;Matt.6:11;Luke 11:3) Exhortation. 

On this 8/27, here is an 8:27 Construction for Instruction through which to Muse and Peruse.

Judges 8:27 (KJB)  And Gideon made an ephod thereof, and put it in his city, even in Ophrah: and all Israel went thither a whoring after it: which thing became a snare unto Gideon, and to his house.

Gideon makes the Hall of Faith chapter (Hebrews 11:32) so we know he turned this matter around, but not without the consequences. The sin of causing others to sin is a serious and grave matter (Matt.18, etc.). When leaders sin, their sphere of influence is greatly affected. 

Proverbs 29:12 If a ruler hearken to lies, all his servants are wicked.

Idolatry is basically putting ANYTHING ABOVE THE CREATOR, THE LORD JESUS CHRIST. ANY. THING. PERIOD. This will provoke others to sin, and be a snare to you and your household. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. PERIOD. And in every single time period. 

Colossians 3:5 says to mortify “…covetousness, which is idolatry…” To covet anything above God is idol-worship. 

The greatest command is to LOVE GOD with every fiber of our being (Deut. 6:5). 

Matthew 22:37-38 37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment.

By the way, the above are verses 37 and 38. 37=secrets in Bible Numerics. 38 is 19x2 or double faith. The secret to secrets and double faith? LOVE GOD SUPREMELY WITH YOUR EVERYTHING. 

1 Corinthians 10:14 Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.

The “sin unto death” chapter of 1st John 5 ends with this warning: 

 Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen. (1 John 5:21). 

1 Cor. 5:11 says if a brother is an idolater, keep no company with him and don’t even eat with him. It is a local church discipline issue. I realize this is a joke as most so-called churches are simply sinful social clubs with members’ dues and almost anything goes and 99% of them are UNAWARE OF 1st Cor. 5. This, of course, is *NOT* THE BRIDE OF CHRIST, the New Testament church... 

AN IDOL CAN BE SUBTLE. Don’t provoke God to Jealousy. PUT HIM FIRST TODAY *IN EVERYTHING* lest it be a source of whoring by those you influence, and lest it be a snare to you and to your house. 

Revelation 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and IDOLATERS, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

What you do in moderation, your children will do in excess. MARK THAT DOWN. 

Allow the water of the word to cleanse you from ALL IDOLS.

 

Ezekiel 36:25 Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.

Will you ask God to show you any SUBTLE IDOL in your life? 

There is a reason why Antichrist is called the IDOL SHEPHERD (Zech.11:17) as this Antichrist generation is chock FULL OF IDOLS. 

Behind every idol is a devil (Rev. 9:20; Ps. 96:5; Lev.17:7; Deut.32:17; Ps. 106:37; 1 Cor. 10:20). 

When I was young in the Lord, I thought there was a devil behind every bush. I matured. Now, I realize there are at least TWO. 1 John 5:19 says, "...the WHOLE WORLD LIETH IN WICKEDNESS." 

FLEE IDOLATRY, BRETHREN. MAKE GOD THE OBJECT OF 100% OF YOUR DEVOTION.
