Are YOU Bethel, the HOUSE OF GOD? 

12/8 Daily Exhortation (Heb. 3:13; 10:25; Matt. 6:11; Luke 11:3)

This 12/8, let’s meditate/masticate upon THIS 12:8…

Genesis 12:8 (KJB)  And he removed from thence unto a mountain on the east of Beth-el, and pitched his tent, having Beth-el on the west, and Hai on the east: and there he builded an altar unto the LORD, and called upon the name of the LORD.

I love, love, love this verse. The Bible Numerics ABOUND. First off, 12 for the 12 Tribes of Israel/Jacob. And 8 for new beginnings. See, we are by faith of the seed of Abraham (Rom. 4:16) and made partakers of the commonwealth of Israel (Eph. 2:12; note that 12!) The church is called the House of the Lord, the PILLAR AND GROUND OF THE TRUTH (1 Tim. 3:15; and by God’s good grace, when I wrote this, I awoke at 3:15 AM and thought about this verse WITHOUT knowing what verse construction would launch me this way! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this Jesus walk!!!). Jesus fills His Body. 

Note that the EARTH is God’s footstool in Isaiah 66:1. Keep that 66 in mind. So, wherever you are on earth, YOU ARE AT JESUS’ FEET. You are at the MERCYSEAT (Jesus is our propitiation and this is the same Greek word as mercyseat; see Romans 3:25, etc.). Therefore, you can CALL UPON THE NAME OF THE LORD AND BE AT HIS ALTAR ANYWHERE. 

But let’s talk about Bethel. Beth means “House” and “El” means “God.” So, Bethel means “House of God.” The phrase “House of God” is in the Bible 90 times. That’s how many times "Holy Ghost" is found. Why? We are called to be “the TEMPLE OF THE HOLY GHOST” (1 Cor. 6:19). Also, Sara was 90 when the Holy Ghost quickened her womb. 

Focus passage... Watch this. “Bethel” is in the Bible 66 times. That is how many books that are in the Bible. You have 66 bones in your torso (hide the word in your heart). You have have 66 total joints in your both feet (walk in the word). 

I love this emphasis here: 

Genesis 35:7 And he built there an altar, and called the place El–beth–el: because there God appeared unto him, when he fled from the face of his brother.

Note: EL=GOD. So, GOD of the HOUSE OF GOD. Well, well, well. God is emphasizing that HE IS OF UTMOST IMPORTANCE. Some like to call a building “the House of God.” You’ll not find any buildings around when Jacob used “Bethel” (Gen.28:19). 

Acts 7: 48 Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands; as saith the prophet, 49 Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool: what house will ye build me? saith the Lord: or what is the place of my rest? 50 Hath not my hand made all these things?

God wants YOU to become THE HOUSE OF GOD. Now, the local church/assembly is called THE HOUSE OF GOD also. It is a threefold cord not quickly broken: You are the house of God, the universal body of Christ is the house of God, and the local church is the house of God (which met in houses in the N.T. model). You really need all three. Don't "throw in the towel." 

I exhort you today, BE BETHEL, THE HOUSE OF GOD. 

2 Corinthians 6:16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

Be the HABITATION OF GOD today, CHURCH, the PILLAR and GROUND of the TRUTH as word-oriented walkers in the WAY,  -r <3
