Established?
01/11 Daily Exhortation (Matt.6:11;Luke 11:3;Heb.3:13;10:25)…
This 1/11, may the following 1:11 selection be a blessing from heaven…
Romans 1:11 (KJB) For I long to see you, that I may impart unto you some spiritual gift, to the end ye may be established…
This is one of my all-time favorite verses for decades. There is an “end goal” or “over-arching objective” to the spiritual gifts: THAT YE MAY BE *ESTABLISHED.* You CANNOT be established apart from spiritual gifts.
This is why Satan hates spiritual gifts so vehemently. He knows hope is an “anchor” of the soul (Heb.6:19), he knows if the foundation can be destroyed, the righteous can do nothing (Ps. 11:3), on and on… But one oft-neglected concept is that SPIRITUAL GIFTS will ESTABLISH YOU.
In the mouth of two or three witnesses, every word is ESTABLISHED (Deut. 19:15 and Matthew 18:16 dealing with church discipline)… In 1 Samuel 3:20 it says that, “…Samuel was established to be a prophet of the LORD.” His gift established him. In 2 Samuel 5:12, “David perceived that the LORD had ESTABLISHED him king over Israel…” Solomon’s kingdom was “ESTABLISHED GREATLY” (1 Kings 2:12)…2 Chronicles 20:20 says that if we believe in the Lord our God, we will be ESTABLISHED. In Acts 16:5, the churches were “established in the faith.”
The Bible says we, as New Testament Christians, have a BETTER COVENANT “established upon better promises.” Peter warns that when we are established in the present truth, we have need of being reminded constantly (2 Peter 1:12).
But what of the spiritual gifts? Ephesians 4 says the purpose of the gifts for the church is that we grow up beyond children and not be tossed to and fro by every wind of doctrine (established or stabilized). The reason you don’t neglect the spiritual gift that is in you is for the fact that using such will establish both you and others in the local church (1 Tim. 4:14).
So, Satan knows this all full well, and does several things. He wants folks to bury their talents (Matt.25:25) in the earth (talent is God’s play on words pointing to both a Hebrew measurement and abilities). Satan has about near stamped out local churches or they are so marred beyond recognition that folks throw in the towel in the last days. This prevents one from being rooted and grounded and thusly established. Moreover, there is very little New Testament model church these days where folks actually USE THEIR GIFTS when the saints gather. It is discouraged when you have "one man show" paid professional pastors, etc. After all, if folks are PAYING the hireling, why should THEY contribute with their talents/gifts to the local assembly? An enemy hath done this.
The office of apostle and prophet are gone today. The church is built upon the FOUNDATION or they are established upon the apostles and prophets (Eph. 2:20). But we still need GOD’S GIFTS.
Folks that forsake a local church (fleeing fervent charity fellowship) are always flip-flopping and floundering in fickle fashion with feeble knees and fake futility (feigning fulfillment). Disjointed from Christ's local body of believers, they despise any and all verses relating to their sins. Same strategy of Satan for millennia now.
1 Corinthians 1:7 So that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ…
Jesus has not come back yet, so the gifts are still IN FULL SWING. What are YOUR gifts and how are you using them in your local church and beyond?
If you feel unstable in your Christian walk, may God impart/develop spiritual gifts both in you and in those with which you fellowship TO THE END GOAL THAT YE MAY BE ESTABLISHED, -r <3
