1 Samuel 2:3 (KJB)  Talk no more so exceeding proudly; let not arrogancy come out of your mouth: for the LORD is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed.

God is weighing ACTIONS. Man is so arrogant to think so highly of himself, but inspect the fruit to discern the root. Look past words and at folks’ works. You can hear their talk, but what of their walk?

 

Pride is the hypodermic needle that God allows a man to self-administer to himself to deaden the pain of being so foolish!

THE PRIMITIVE PROBLEM OF PRIDE. 

Man thinks he accomplished so much, is self-made, worked so hard, etc. God sets the parameters; God lays out the lots. GOD GETS ALL THE GLORY. 

Heaven is for those that give their Creator ALL THE GLORY. Hell is for those that retain the credit...

Some folks can talk a big game, but they are flat busted and spiritually bankrupt when weighed in the balances and in the final analysis…

Proverbs 14:23 In all labour there is profit: but the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury.

Psalm 94:4 How long shall they utter and speak hard things? and all the workers of iniquity boast themselves?

One thing I love about the King James translators is their humility. When you read the preface, etc. they called themselves “poor instruments” to make God’s word/truth known. They also said that if we are to be “sons of the truth” we must trample upon our own credit. Well said and excellent counsel to which to heed. 

Proverbs 8:13 The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.

Isaiah 37:23 Whom hast thou reproached and blasphemed? and against whom hast thou exalted thy voice, and lifted up thine eyes on high? even against the Holy One of Israel.

We know from James that God RESISTS the proud, and gives grace unto the humble. Get proud, and God puts Himself in full battle array against you. Sadly, so many have fallen prey to this. They despise the day of small things (Zech. 4:10) and head downward. 

EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. PERIOD. 

And in every single time period. 

Daniel 4:37 Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honour the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase.

God will weigh the balances. 

Job 31:6 Let me be weighed in an even balance, that God may know mine integrity.

Proverbs 21:2  Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the LORD pondereth the hearts.

Proverbs 16:2 All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the LORD weigheth the spirits.

Psalm 36:2 For he flattereth himself in his own eyes, until his iniquity be found to be hateful.

Who are we APART FROM CHRIST? 

Galatians 6:3 For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself.

James 1:22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
