Job 9:29 (KJB)  If I be wicked, why then labour I in vain?

When one is acting wicked, they make their labour to be vain (empty). They negate their labour. 

For many moons, we’ve called this VENDING MACHINE VANITY. Let me illustrate. 

There are VENDING MACHINES that are OUT OF ORDER or OUT OF SERVICE or NEEDS SERVICING. Sadly, they don’t always come with signs informing of this. You have to find out the HARD WAY.

Vending machines can offer some “not good” things in many scenarios. Also, you can get some pure things from vending machines (water, etc.). 

Ever put your money into a vending machine and it took your money, but no return?  The result was vanity/emptiness. It had the lights, had the power, offered some good things, but it did not deliver. In the long run, this vending machine is not profitable for the owner because it will only steal money but eventually folks will not trust its unfaithfulness and no longer invest into it. And eventually, the plug will be pulled (no lights) and a warning sign upon it. 

OUT OF ORDER. 

There are many Christians who due to wicked acts of sin, are walking around in need of a sign that says “OUT OF SERVICE.” Ministry means “service.” When one is walking in unconfessed/unrepentant sin, they are not walking in the light (see 1st John 1, etc.). To name the Name of Christ, and walk in vanity, is to take His Name in VAIN. Selah. 

There is a serious warning in the Bible about going through the motions. It is called “the motions of sins” in Romans 7:5 and in 2 Timothy 3:5, it is called “Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof…” In 2 Timothy 3:5, it says, “…FROM SUCH TURN AWAY.” You are wasting your time with such…

Psalm 127:1 Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.

In Babylon (Confusion), “the people labour in vain” (Jer.51:58). 

There is much in the Bible warning against vain labour. And Satan’s grid is right there every time. 

1 Thessalonians 3:5 For this cause, when I could no longer forbear, I sent to know your faith, lest by some means the tempter have tempted you, and our labour be in vain.

In Judges 16:20, it says that Samson knew “not that the LORD was departed from him.” He had lost power with God being brought under the SPELL OF JEZEBEL. Many a mighty man was/is made a mouse in like manner. 

1 Samuel 16:14 But the Spirit of the Lord departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the Lord troubled him.

1 Samuel 18:10 And it came to pass on the morrow, that the evil spirit from God came upon Saul, and he prophesied in the midst of the house: and David played with his hand, as at other times: and there was a javelin in Saul's hand.

 

Sometimes they are going through the same motions of prophesying, BUT IT’S AN EVIL SPIRIT FROM GOD THIS TIME AND NOT THE SPIRIT OF GOD. 

Sometimes the HOLY GHOST IS MOVING with the company of an OUT OF ORDER/ OUT OF SERVICE vessel and this creates the delusion that God is with them.  

1 Samuel 19:20 And Saul sent messengers to take David: and when they saw the company of the prophets prophesying, and Samuel standing as appointed over them, the Spirit of God was upon the messengers of Saul, and they also prophesied.

 

This VENDING MACHINE VANITY gets tricky, nay? It seemed Saul was delivering goods, but the machine was quite faulty. We call this THE DOCTRINE OF DIVINELY-DECIDED DELUSIONS.

 

Some think they are doing God service when they are not (Philippians 1:15-18; John 16:2). 

If we are OUT OF SERVICE, WE NEED SERVICE. We need a TECHNICIAN. A technician gets TECHNICAL. They troubleshoot. They bring to light the hidden things of darkness in the vending machine. Sometimes you just want to SHAKE SOME CENTS (sense) into that machine, BUT it’s best to call upon the Technician. Only God can bring about the change. 

Good news. Samson repented and GOT BACK INTO SERVICE. He even made the Hall of Faith of Hebrews 11. Let the Teacher, the Truth, the Technician Troubleshoot you today AND GET BACK INTO SERVICE AND STOP BEING “OUT OF ORDER.” Stop bringing shame to your OWNER. 

All who forsake God’s call, all rebels, all railer, all slanderers, all backsliders, all church-disciplined, all secret-sinners, all hypocrites (pretenders/fakes) – ALL – ALL – ALL who are not walking in God’s will/Spirit = ALL are laboring in VAIN. Don’t throw away all your labour in the Lord via wicked acts. DON’T DO IT. *DON’T.*

You are only rewarded if your ministry is BY THE BOOK. Any fleshly/worldly shortcuts are VAIN.

2 Timothy 2:5 And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully.

"Yeah, but, I never repented of railing and God is still showing me things..." Observe:

Proverbs 29:13 The poor and the deceitful man meet together: the LORD lighteneth both their eyes.

Jonah 2:8 They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy.

Brethren, do you want your labour to be IN VAIN? Do you want to be advertising, feeling some power, thinking you are in service, when you are OUT OF ORDER and unprofitable to your Creator? Do you want wood, hay, stubble, lost reward, etc.? Do you want to be OUT OF SERVICE? DO YOU WANT TO BE VAIN? VANITY? DON’T GET CAUGHT UP IN VENDING MACHINE VANITY but ensure you get a FULL REWARD and that Jesus gets the 100fold due His name.
