Let us MINE from the treasures of this 3:9 this 3/9…

Genesis 3:9 (KJB)  And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?

The first time God questions is God seeking man. 

By the time you get to the N.T., man is SEEKING GOD… In Matthew 2:2, the question is… “Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him…”

 

GET THIS. WHEN GOD ASKS A QUESTION, it is not for HIS education, but for OURS. 

God’s questions are rhetorical – they are actually statements. 

God knows literally EVERYTHING. 

Acts 15:18 Known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world.

Psalm 147:5 Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite.

John 21:17 And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.

A question mark resembles a SHEPHERD’S HOOK. The Good Shepherd uses questions to DRAW OUT OF US. To TEST US. 

Job 7:17-18 17 What is man, that thou shouldest magnify him? and that thou shouldest set thine heart upon him?

18 And that thou shouldest visit him every morning, and try him every moment?

Remember that God is TESTING us every single moment of every single day. All of mankind is being tested. 

Genesis 4:9 And the LORD said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not: Am I my brother's keeper?

God knew where Abel was. God was TESTING Cain. 

1 Kings 19:9 And he came thither unto a cave, and lodged there; and, behold, the word of the LORD came to him, and he said unto him, What doest thou here, Elijah?

Note the word of God was PERSONIFIED (see yesterday’s exhortation) and ASKS QUESTIONS. 

Acts 9:4 And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?

When folks are in sin (like Adam in our focus passage), they try and HIDE IT. They may have FIG-LEAF RELIGION and cover their sin with self-righteousness. Folks usually flee the light and do the AVOID DANCE SPIRIT OF AVOIDANCE with respect to being QUESTIONED.

 

How about YOU today? How’s that SPIRITUAL INVENTORY? How’s that JESUS WALK? Will you permit God to question you? We are being tested. Final Exams are on the horizon from the Master/Teacher, -r <3
